TAKE-HOME MESSAGE

• The authors of this study evaluated the efficacy and tolerability of 1.8% hydrogen peroxide gel twice daily under occlusion for the treatment of molluscum contagiosum (MC) in 21 children. Fewer were found in 18 (85.7%) of patients, but only 3 patients had complete resolution. An increased number of lesions were found in 3 patients. Adverse events occurred in 2 patients, with 1 reporting a mild burning sensation and 1 reporting erythema.

• Hydrogen peroxide gel may be beneficial for the treatment of MC with few adverse effects.
