Addition Of Patches Made Of Autologous Leucocytes, Platelets, And Fibrin To Standard Care May Increase Proportion Of Wounds Healed, Study Suggests.
Medscape (9/28, McCall, Subscription Publication) reported researchers found in a clinical trial that LeucoPatch's Reapplix patches "are associated with a significant increase in the proportion of wounds confirmed healed when added to good standard of care." The article added that Reapplix patches are made up of "autologous leucocytes, platelets, and fibrin." The findings were published in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology. The author of an accompanying commentary wrote, "Regardless of the management of the vasculature, there was a significant benefit from the intervention in the hard-to-heal ulcers," and "the low number of dropouts suggests good patient acceptability."
