Fototerapia en epocas de COVID-19
Recommendations for Phototherapy During the COVID-19 Pandemic
TAKE-HOME MESSAGE
- Based on extrapolated data from UVC virus inactivation data from other viruses, UVB and UVA may have a virucidal effect and thus may be helpful in limiting the spread of COVID-19 via a phototherapy unit. However, if phototherapy services are resumed or continued, the authors suggest that all patients be screened for symptoms upon arrival, come alone to appointments (or with one guardian, if a minor), wear a homemade cotton mask except during treatment, be given a disposable bag in which to place their clothing during treatment, and perform hand hygiene when entering and exiting the phototherapy unit. Staff should avoid turning on the phototherapy unit fan if possible.
- This consensus opinion provides strategies for altering phototherapy practices in the time of COVID-19. Even with these recommendations, however, the decision whether to continue or resume phototherapy in dermatologic offices should ultimately be made in conjunction with local public health recommendations.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in closure of many phototherapy units in the United States and around the world, especially in areas hard-hit by the pandemic, with difficulty in maintaining social distancing being a driving factor. Currently, there is no guidance on managing phototherapy service or resuming the service during this pandemic.
