Vitamina D sirve para DA
IMPACT OF VITAMIN D SUPPLEMENTATION ON ATOPIC DERMATITIS IN CHILDREN
This prospective observational study aimed to investigate the impact of vitamin D supplementation on the levels of catelicidin (peptide with antimicrobial properties), which has been correlated with the pathophysiology of atopic dermatitis (AD).
Fifty children with AD were included. They were divided into two groups, according to the severity of the case, based on SCORAD index ("SCORing Atopic Dermatitis").
The results indicated that patients with severe AD (SCORAD> 40) received higher doses of vitamin D to reduce the index to levels similar to that of mild AD. There was significant negative downregulation of the severity of symptoms (SCORAD index) from baseline among the group taking 2400UI vitamin D.
The authors concluded that vitamin D can be used for the control of AD, however, they recommend the dose to be titrated considering the severity of the disease.
